How to recognize fraudulent attempts and how to deal with them?

Never share your bank account number, PIN or card details with anyone.

Do not approve transactions or authorization attempts in Internet banking or any app that you have not initiated yourself.

If you are in doubt about a payment, do not transfer the money until you are sure.

Never approve transactions for which you are not sure! It is better to double check than to confirm immediately.

Never transfer your personal and bank data to third parties.

Set up a DNS firewall – it is a free tool created by CERT.LV and NIC specifically for Latvian residents to protect against fraudulent websites.

If you have detected a fraudulent attempt, you should definitely report it to INDEXO and the police. If possible, forward also information about the address of the fake website intended to collect data.

Remember that INDEXO employees will never call to: find out your personal data, find out your payment card data, Internet bank user number or digipass code, Smart ID code.

If you receive such a suspicious call, it is best to end the conversation and call INDEXO's phone number or write an e-mail and find out if the previous conversation was actually a call made by INDEXO employees.

on how not to fall for fraudsters

Do not share information about bank logins, passwords and eSignature access data either in telephone conversations or in correspondence on the Internet. Do not enter this data in the sent Internet links. The Bank will never call or write to customers to ask them to share passwords or other personal data.

Under no circumstances send pictures or videos of bank cards or identity documents to other people.

Check your account outgoing payments regularly. Set incoming notifications about changes in the account or check the account report as often as possible to notice suspicious transactions sooner.

Regularly update the contact information in the bank. If the transaction seems suspicious, the bank employees contact the customer to make sure that it is actually done by the customer.

Do not enter information in pop-up windows or click on links in them.

When you finish work, always disconnect from the Internet bank (button - Exit) and only then close the browser.

Make electronic payments only on secure websites. The web address in the browser must have a lock symbol or start with https://.

Don't fall for scammers' demands to install remote access software on your smart devices. Do not allow a stranger to handle your device and identity.

Do not click on a link in an email or social media post unless you are sure that the link leads to a website associated with a trusted sender.
